It's made out of "cheater cloth", a length of fabric with the hexagons all printed -- no piecing needed. I did machine quilt around the hexies but that's all there is to it. Finished size is 39 x 34.
After spending January, February, and March working on much larger quilts, I was reminded how much more fun it is to make baby quilts. I'm getting an itch to make something small again.
Before I do that, I thought I should purge something from my stash.
I now have these four baby quilts sitting in a pile and not being used. Isn't that ridiculous? Actually it seems a bit shameful.
So...... if you're waiting for a baby to arrive, or if you have a baby already, or if you're a grandma, an auntie, or a friend who would like to have a little quilt to lay on the floor when babies come to visit, tell me which one is your favorite. If the luck of the Irish is with you this St. Patrick's day, you may just look forward to finding it in your mailbox next week!
I hope you're glad you stopped by today! I know I am!
I'm not waiting for a baby to arrive and I'm not a grandma yet but I am an auntie so I'm not sure if that will do. All of the quilts are so pretty but if I had to choose I probably would choose the third one down. (+)

I love all your work! I wouldn't lay it on the floor.....I would hang it on the wall!! I'm sure I'd find a spot. Although, I hate to get greedy since I already have one. (the seven sisters), which I still enjoy so much! :)
ReplyDeleteCarla. aka...mom, sister, auntie, daughter and who knows what else???

Gorgeous colors! And very inspiring, maybe I'll get to quilting one of these years...I'd have to choose the first one
ReplyDeleteI have no Irish in me, so probably no Irish luck, but I LOVE the quilts. They are all gorgeous! Are you part of the quilting group in the Calumet area? Just curious. My mother-in-law, Chari, is part of a quilting group up there and she has been teaching my daughters to quilt. I love seeing their creations! It is an art in itself.
ReplyDeleteLove the third one! So cute. -Jessica
ReplyDeleteWell hello, nice to meet Torm's mother!
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are gorgeous. It's one craft I'd love to learn someday. My favorite would have to be the 3rd one with the cross design.
I'm not a grandma, although I may be one someday. But I have nieces and nephews that play on our floor. And ... I want to make a quilt that size someday to get me started on a new hobby. All your quilts are eye catching but I keep going back to the blue and green patchwork one. Thanks for the chance to win, Carol.
ReplyDeleteCindy Helppi
I think I'd have to go with the third, for our Sept. Baby:) You have such a knack.
ReplyDelete-Juliana
My baby is a bit old right now but I love hand-made quilts! My favorite is the blue squares. (The 2nd one) :)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog this weekend and enjoyed paging through all your beautiful quilts. The one that caught my eye is the crosses quilt you made for if Andrew would have been a girl....love it! I have no idea how you could give one away though....so much work goes into them!

They are all beautiful, but I'd choose the first one!
ReplyDeleteSo nice! Fave: Bottom, #4. I'm in limbo right now, but hopefully gramma-hood is in my future!!

I love them all! But the first one the hexagon is my fave, thx for hosting the giveaway(hope I win!!)
ReplyDeleteI love them all, Carol! esp. the first one.
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful! If I had to pick one, it would be the 1st one!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so torn between hexagons and turtles, hmmmmm, I guess I'll choose the hexagons and if you do a runner up (-: I'd love the turtles! Beautiful! (and, my mother-in-law loved your herb towels I gave her for Christmas, has them proudly hung from the stove in the kitchen. (-:)
ReplyDeleteWow. How to choose!? Since I love red I guess I'd have to go with the 3rd one down since it has the most red. Or the turtles. Or the first two. :) They are all amazing. Baby due in a month would love them all. I can't even imagine being able to have a blog that centers around quilts, since I'd probably manage one a decade at best. You have amazing talent, Carol!
ReplyDeleteI love them all but like the third one the best!
ReplyDeleteThey are all so beautiful! I'm an Aunt & hopefully one day I'll be a grandma. It's hard to choose a favorite, but I'll choose the 2nd one from the top. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I collect quilts. I LOVE the first one. I was always facinated with Barb's quilting as a kid.
ReplyDelete-Bette
They are all SO beautiful! I am in awe of those who can quilt - such a lovely craft!! I am a momma of 4 :) and my youngest is a boy, so I am partial to the blue/green one (second one down) - but really...they are ALL treasures and I would be happy with ANY of them. :) :)
ReplyDeleteI love them all! They are all beautiful! If I had to pick, I would probably pick the second.
ReplyDeleteI like them all as well! I think I'd pick the one with squares, though.
ReplyDeleteI love the bottom one with the little turtles. I would probably give it to the next niece or nephew that is born in my family. ~ Lisa Andrews
ReplyDeleteI'm a new great-aunt (for the first time!) and would love to see our little William James cuddled in the beautiful blue pinwheel with the turtles in the bottom picture. ~ Candy Goulette
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I'm eligible to win since I don't live anywhere near Michigan and you don't know me from the man on the moon. I follow Sharon's blog and followed the link to yours.
ReplyDeleteI'm an auntie and great-auntie...not sure how I'd choose who to give it to but I sure do like that turtle pinwheel quilt!

ReplyDeleteLovely quilts! My baby is due any day now, and if I could pick one, I would pick the pinwheel. Although, I really like the cross quilt too!
ReplyDeleteI love them all but if I had to pick I'd go with the blue and green squares for my baby due in a little less than 2 weeks!
ReplyDeleteLeanne Therrian
I love the hexagon quilt. It's fun to see something different than squares! I'm a Mom and an Auntie so I def have a little one to use this!
ReplyDeleteI like the hexagon quilt, but I'd pick the third one down because it's more unisex. My baby (hah) brother and wife are expecting any day now. I'm waiting for the phone call. They have five boys, so odds are it'll be a boy, but I am hoping for a baby girl for them : )
ReplyDeleteAll of them are beautiful...but the one that looks like plus signs is my favorite!!
ReplyDeleteHello! This is the first time I have visited your blog and your quilts are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! I am one of Julie and Dennis’s neighbors and our baby boy is due next Tuesday :) I would LOVE to win the one that is blue and green squares. You are a very talented woman. If I am not a lucky winner can I ask how much you charge for one of them???
ReplyDelete~Jade
GORGEOUS quilts! Makes me want to get my machine out and finish up the one I've had half done for 5 years!
ReplyDeleteI love the third one down - with the crosses best. I can just see my little guy curled up with it! Thanks for the chance to win!

ReplyDeleteKathy R
Ooooh, I love the one with the crosses. I'd give it to my almost two year old daughter for her birthday. My mom makes quilts but they are for hanging on the wall and not for playing with.
ReplyDeleteThey're all darling! The first is my favorite! What a generous idea :)
ReplyDeleteI love the third one! But they're all beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI'm a great aunt so that counts right? They are all beautiful! But I love the third one down.

ReplyDeleteI love your cheater cloth....shhhh I wont tell anyone. My mom is a quilter and so am I...kind of. I love her and your quilts...you work is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI am an auntie and Godmommy.
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are just gorgeous. I would love any of them but my favorite is the blues and greens man that was a hard choice I loved them all.
My favorites are #3 and #4. :) Like Carla said, I wouldn't lay it on the floor to let babies drool/puke all over it. I still look at another you made me (patriotic) and smile, everytime I look at it, and think of you. XOXO (so it would be selfish to win this time~but, hey! I'll enter anyway!)
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've ever been drawn out of hiding and commented on a blog but I couldn't resist. carol they are beautiful, I'd have to go with one. Thanks for the chance. Lynette
ReplyDeleteI'm due for baby number four in June, and love the hexegon one! :) It's a goal of mine to someday learn how to quilt. I think I'd enjoy it. First I'll need to learn how to sew.... some day! :) Megan L.
ReplyDeleteI love them all, but my favorite is the quilt with the turtles! You do beautiful work! What a generous give-away. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful, but if I had to choose, I would say the first one. I love quilts, and only one of my three children has a homemade quilt from an aunt as a baby gift. I hope to learn to quilt someday in the future.
ReplyDelete~Carol P.

ReplyDeleteyour quilts are gorgeous - one of my most prized possesions is an heirloom quilt hand-stitched by my great-grandmother. I too follow Sharon's blog and was instantly taken by the hexagon quilt - my fingers are crossed that it'll make an excellent gift for a dear friend awaiting the arrival of her adopted son.
I like them all,but I like the first and fourth the best.
ReplyDeleteJoanne
You are so talented! I like the one second from the bottom (with +).
ReplyDelete~Amy L

They are all beautiful, but I think I like the pinwheel quilt the best.
ReplyDeleteHope I have some luck and win one!
So hard to choose, all of them are beautiful! I guess my first choice would be the third one down, with the crosses. Such lovely work! ~ jen S.
