Judy over at Patchwork Times picked #1 on our lists to finish for March. My #1 challenge was a quilt from Kaffe Fassett's Quilt Romance called Ice Cream Quilt. I had a pretty easy challenge for this one -- I wanted to get the top completed and I did.
It was more difficult to get a picture of it. Although today was a sunny day, it was way too windy to try to photograph an unquilted quilt top outside. I finally pinned it to my living room curtains. With the sun shining through from the back, it was still hard to get the colors.
I had fun playing with fabrics with this one. But many times I wished I lived close to a quilt shop that carried Kaffe fabrics. I order a lot of my fabric online, but once in awhile a color isn't what you expect it to be.
I didn't have the backing or the batting I needed to go any further on the Ice Cream Quilt quilt, so I moved it down to #8 and finished this one to make room for it.
It almost looks like a good match for that house on the street behind me!
I think I'll play with some smaller quilts while I wait to see what the April challenge will be.
I love that picture of the quilt in the window! And the other pic, with the close-up fabric is great too. Drool!
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are beautiful ~ happy memories!
ReplyDeleteBoth projects are beautiful but I especially love the photos of the ice cream quilt...very ethereal looking!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the light come through the quilt. Very beautiful quilt. Judy C
ReplyDeleteslowly building a stash of Kaffe's to do the Ice Cream quilt also...your's is lovely! and your finish is too!!
ReplyDeleteIce Cream looks great! I started that pattern last year, but it started to get ripples as it got larger and larger, no matter how careful I was with measuring, pinning and sewing. Your finished quilt makes me want to start it all over again!
ReplyDeleteThey're both lovely! I really like the blue one - a fun simple pattern is so effective - especially when it matches the neighborhood! :-)
ReplyDeleteBoth are very nice...yet very different. The first is screaming spring and the last a cozy cuddle. Congrats on getting so much work done.
ReplyDeleteGreat Kaffe quilt is great. Love all the simlar colors. I see where it got its name.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! What a great finishes, and they look beautiful. Sadly I'm only 2 for 3 (March let me down). Looking forward to seeing what you finish in April!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Dionne
Great finishes - love both quilts! The Kaffe quilt with sunshine shining through is amazing!
ReplyDeleteNice colors. Yes I understand about ordering fabrics online. Sometimes its a gamble or you have to order 2-3 before you get the right one.
ReplyDeleteThose blues and browns look great together - watch out that your neighbors don't snatch it for themselves - LOL!
